short post here…..we went to park city to celebrate jeremy’s bachelor party (he gets married in late may – i should know the date).
it wasn’t as wild as it might have been 5 years ago, but neither am i. we spent most of our time on the mountain or in the “hot pool”. that sounds a little gross, but it is just a pool, that is kept hot tub hot, not any sort of fetish-thing. so, it mostly consisted of hit the slopes all day long, then drink some beers in the pool and overpay through the nose for food at night before going to sleep and doing it all over again the next day. i was a little stunned that every restaurant in Park City is still WAY over priced and way packed. numerous places told us they could seat us at 5pm or 11pm, but not in between. it seems they are not aware there is a recession going on. maybe mitt’s people have something figured out and we should have listened to him…..i dunno?
anyway, we had a good time and returned with no serious injuries – no small feat indeed. the video below has a few clips of us snowboarding and several of us making fun of cory (who was a very good sport). enjoy
Sarah and Zach let Amelia model for me last weekend….she was precious, and unlike most models, she actually ate in the middle of the shoot.
also here are all the photos from the shoot for any members of the roberts/phillips families that might be interested. for anyone not a member of the family, it’s a link to my first full album of baby/family portraiture, which i’m looking to develop into a little bit of a side business.

soooo, as a wedding gift to us, drew and blake had given us money towards attending the L2L Valentine’s Day Retreat in helen, ga. that’s right, helen, the little bavarian village in north georgia known for its oktoberfest, cabbage patch um…patch, and the chicken dance. it’s also a very beautiful area (once you get away fromt he kitsch and the crowd kitsch attracts) with waterfalls, mountains and a TON of good hiking (me being lazy, i’d ask if there is such a thing, but lillis is certain there is). here we are on a hike – by we i mean lillis, the better part of we.
and lillis and blake at the nacooche restaurant (which is a mighty fine establishment).
and drew and blake.
the weekend was a really good one, and one in which we learned a pretty good bit. we still don’t know enough about what we don’t know as a married couple to have benefited fully, but it is good to learn more about some of the pitfalls into which others have fallen and to be reminded about the need to put conscious effort (rather than just my fabulous unconscious efforts) towards building and strengthening our marriage. it was also amazing to see the older men in the organization who put so much of their effort into helping mentor others and grow them into real Christian businessmen and strong husbands to their wives.
also, another highlight for lillis was that we got to stop and get “sonic” on the way in AND the way out.
sooooo, i was able to convince john and stephen that it would be a good idea for us to spend a weekend out in the woods with no food and no hair dryers (more a concern for stephen than for me - and less so every day). we found our way up to the greater […]
we went to huntsvegas for our end of the season volleyball tourney with the tsunami club i've been working with. below are a few picks of my team (13 black). we had a tough opening day, but did manage to upset the #1 seed in the tournament on day 2 before bowing out.below, allie poses […]
i took a second trip to nicaragua in april. this time brent nix (the mystery 4th in our group) and john headed down as well. it was john's 3rd trip and we were taking a look at a couple of places that he had visited before as well as some new places that peter wanted […]
sorry, no pics for this one. soooo, Atlanta was hosting the inagural ING marathon on March 25th. several of my friends had been training for months, but i had been nursing a sore leg and had not jogged for about 2 months. for some reason my friends (most notably jason, drew and blake) thought it […]
well, i'm sure everyone was jonesin for an update on the fantasy baseball draft update. i know it's like a monkey on my back. well, we were very excited that our draft angel was still there this year and had not indeed been killed by the fans of the Dominican team last year. as you […]
soooo, i decided to wing on up to DC to check out the WHO at Verizon Center with my friends Jeff and Todd and my brother Jeremy. We had a pretty fun weekend there, highlighted by either the girl who claimed she had political asylum, or the one whose belt was "Hermes" (as i was […]

soooo, as you may know (if YOU are indeed reading this, and it's entirely possible you're not) i am now coaching volleyball. i'm coaching a girls 13's team that plays out of Woodward. often times those practices are the highlight of my week. there's something really amazing about having 12 people scream your name every […]
i usually try not to really mention what i'm thinking here, as it is my general supposition that no one really cares, but today will be an exception. i'm not even going to pretend that any more than 3 people in america might find me insiteful, but i figured i'd just put it out here. […]
nothing really to tell here. drew and i went fishing. i caught my first bass (more of a fly fisherman, i am)you may remember my phat hat as being the same one i won for catching a barracuda on drew's bachelor party. it still looks every bit as good as it did the day i […]
