ski trip 08

Posted in Uncategorized on Feb 28, 2008

all right, here’s a little posting from this year’s ski trip. many were missed this time around, but we still had a great time. i just wish i had had one more boarder to shred with. lillis is a GREAT skier but she’s….well, you know….a skier : )

here’s a team photo with tyler (last seen sleeping at brent’s bachelor party), brent, me, lillis and susanne.

tyler was sporting a bit of a ‘fro, and so was brent after removing his knit cap.

here are just the two of us. the hot one, and me.

here, jeremy demonstrates one of his techniques for getting down the mountain. i only got to see him board for about an hour or so, but apparently he really picked it up as the trip went on.

lillis doesn’t like this picture b/c the wind was blowing the wrong direction for her hair.

these are trees, they were lovely. it’s worth saying the weather was gorgeous the first couple of days there. close to 40 degrees.

lillis has three speeds, eat, play and sleep. here she’s in 3rd gear. : )

as you may have guessed, this is lillis and me.

in this picture the wind was blowing in more of a hair friendly direction for lillis. for me personally, i find that the wind has less and less impact on my hair with each passing year.

then the storms began to move in. it got pretty cold pretty quick and the snow really started to come down.

lillis did her best to stay warm but it was no use.

she turned back so i spent the rest of the day boarding on my own. it got pretty cold and my head iced up.

lillis did suck it up and make it to dinner at an awesome place owned by robert redford called zoom. we took a photo after as we were heading over to catch the bus back to our house which was just off of the main strip in park city. it was small but very nice.

the next day was absolutely GORGEOUS. park city resort was ok, but nowhere near as good (as far as i’m concerned) as the canyons. it was about 30 degrees and sunny. unfortunately i was by myself, b/c lillis had gotten really ill during the night and had to go to the doctor on sunday. i felt really bad for her, but she was a trooper and was SUPER sweet and let me spend the day on the slopes enjoying the 11 inches of powder from the night before. as always, i am very lucky.

here is the entrance to canus lupus, my favorite run on the whole mountain, and a sweet natural halfpipe. the run has never been better than it was on sunday. just powder everywhere in teh middle of it. it was fast, but controllable b/c you could really work the board. it is the most exhausting run ever. i ran it 4 times and even worked on my airs and board grabs coming out of it.

this is a shot of some other people heading down upper boa.

i always liked this chairlift

and this moose. i always liked him too. he actually was marty moose b/c the park was closed (or at least the sidewinder run was closed) b/c of him.

the super steep run in the left of this photo is just awesome. it had moguls, but not giant knee snapping moguls. gentle, board cradling moguls. i took a lift up and then shot down that run and down the mountain to meet lillis and head to the airport.

in case i haven’t already mentioned it, it was GORGEOUS on sunday there. it was maybe my best day of boarding ever.

we got home safely, albeit quite late, on sunday night. unfort, though, i caught what lillis had had the day before and actually woke up about 4am feeling as if someone had drugged and beaten me. i felt better a few days later, though, and it was well worth it to have been on the trip.

here’s a link to ALL the pics from the trip.

and a few video highlights from the trip.

and here’s my last run down the mountain.
