well, i got the opportunity to go up to DC for the weekend and stay at the hyatt capitol hill for my company’s annual meeting. it was a pretty sweet setup – no doubt a result of the fact that our conquerors (black and veatch) were in attendance to welcome us to the fold. i will not go into any detail about that, except to say that in a raffle i won $500 of my company president’s money, which i spent on a handsome cab ride (well part of it anyway) and taking emily out to a nice dinner where her meal was served to her much as it had come out of it’s watery home.
ultimately she did enjoy her fancy meal, and her fish carcass.
emily had never been to our nation’s capitol before, so we spent plenty of time just seeing the sights…
we met up with jeff and elizabeth in DC and of course, sophie and caroline were in tow. sophie likes waterfalls but hates the noise….that’s a tough position to be in!!
and, on to more sights and sounds of dc, including these next two from a flea market at eastern market.
and here’s some proof that emily didn’t ditch me.
finally, one last pic of em in front of the washington monument (to finish out a VERY washington monument intensive blog).
whoops, i almost forgot….what made that a fateful company meeting? well, i had an interview in atlanta that following morning for a company i would later accept a job with, making that meeting the last time i would ever see most of my co-workers.

i will not regale you all with any of the crass, but sometimes amusing comments that got made that day, but i will tell you the highlight of the halftime show was when one of the band nerds got turned sideways for a moment.
we got great seats for a good price and i got to see the tide win in person for the first time since the ’99 SEC Championship game.
Speaking of great seats, there were plenty of good seats available by the end of the 3rd quarter, as Cock fans aren’t as loyal as fans from real football schools.
i guess i should mention that in attendance we had Jeremy, Richie and Richie’s dad (big Richie).
some Cock fans did stay for the whole game like this “special” guy who’s picking up cups to take back to his trailer.
afterwards we checked out the “cockabooses” which i have to admit are pretty freakin sweet. i wish we had some.
anyway, in the end it was a great day. the tide rolled, and we had a blast. in fact, in the end, even our opponents cheerleaders had to admit the mystique and power of the tide.
