so, we headed down to Nawlins for Stephen’s bachelor party. stephen as you may or may not know is my small group member and roomate (up until his wedding). We decided to have the bachelor party in New Orleans b/c it is the only place that i know of where you can see a girl play the spoons on a washboard.

ok, that wasn’t the actual reason. i think it was just more of a compromise location. not as evil as vegas, not as expensive as key west, not as foreign as costa rica. it’s a great city though, and i hadn’t been in forever. i have no pictures of the first night b/c i actually fell asleep in my room and no one called to wake me up. good times!
so, instead, i got up the next morning and wandered around the city taking pictures while everyone else slept. i went to cafe dumond (spelling?) and got some beignets and coffee and just “took a look” at the city. i hadn’t been there in at least 5 years, and just love the way it feels. this was about the only time i had to just wander around with no agenda and enjoy that new orleans attitude. at this point, i made a mental note to come back for jazzfest in the not too distant future.
i offered stephen good money touse this toilet….he refused.
it was mardis gras, but it was the lamest mardis gras i have ever seen. this is highly representative of the crowd that was out for most parades, and this was a saturday late afternoon. hopefully, that was just b/c it was cold, drizzly weather for a particularly early mardis gras season this year.
on the second night we actually ate at the house of blues and then saw jonny lang perform. he was actually really terrific and is a pretty darned impressive musician.
i wandered around a litlte more the next morning and then got on the plane to head back home.
i feel like i should have an amusing anectdote or something, but i don’t. i gambled for about 15 minutes (either i suck at blackjack or that dealer was very good) and we watched some college basketball. next time i’ll get some cawfish crepes, and a debris sandwhich at mothers!! until then….
