beach weekend @ rosemary beach • 05.14.11

the folse’s were nice enough to have us down for a long weekend at their beachhouse just outside rosemary beach. it was beautiful weather, not too hot, but just warm enough. we did some body surfing and lillis retained her bodysurfing championship crown. the house was really cute and just a 5 minute walk from either the beach, or all the shops and restaurants of rosemary. pretty cool.
lillis says i never post any pictures she takes. she took this one.

this is the sun. and the sky. and some sand. and some clouds. and the ocean.

we had a great time at the beach. we threw the aerobie, tossed the football, played card games, watched a movie about rapunzel, ate good food. actually, everything except that stupid rapunzel movie was good.

Good Day from Belize • 02.18.11

It’s a beautiful morning in Belize. We landed safely, hopped in our car and made our way down to Hopkins Bay Resort. Pictured here is our villa. Very nice. On the way down we stopped and swam in an inland “blue hole” along the hummingbird highway. We saw a few emerald green hummingbirds, clear blue artesianal well fed waters and some beautiful lush jungle and orchard lands along a mountain range. Oh, and we got Lillis some amazing cinnamon rolls. She’s doing some yoga in the sunshine in front of me even as I type.

atlanta snowstorm 2011 aka: global warming, my ass • 01.10.11

as you may or may not know we got a pretty good snowfall on sunday night which was followed by a really strong ice fall that locked up the city for most of the next 4 days.
here’s our patio as the snow is starting to come down pretty good
by the next morning we had about 4 or 5 inches outside.
we took our lunch break in piedmont park the next day
with our snowboards in hand. it wasn’t the super soft fabulous snow from last year, but i wasn’t recovering from a probably cracked rib as a result of a hemlich manuvuer gone terrible awry, so i’ll take it.
lillis didn’t try snowboarding this year, but she did snap plenty of video of drew and i.

so, it was terribly interesting snow, such as i’ve never seen before. 4 or 5 inches of snow, with a thin layer of ice on top. never seen that in any northern winter or western ski trip. it was like a thin candy shell. another thing we learned is that it is EXTREMELY difficult to land a snowboard on grass
