high on a mountain of love • 07.30.07

that title is an homage to my alabama roots. here we are in the berber village. this is truly the most amazing thing i have ever seen. hundreds of years old and built on the side of a mountain by people fleeing islamic rule. our "hostess" is making bread by hand as i type this from atop the mountain. maybe the most peaceful place i've evryone been. oh, and for anyone concerned about it, the bleeding on my head has abated. also sela insisted on putting a bandaid on it which makes me look ridiculous. ciao!

berber village • 07.30.07

here are alissa and sela on top of a house where a berber potter lives. jen made a tagine. it's a traditional berber cooking pot and name of dish. now we're back on the trail! oh, and i cut my head on a branch and now i'm bleeding. luckily (if i need a blood transfusion) i've had my pre-travel hepatitis shots. jen says, "hi, suzanne!"

SOS • 07.29.07

this is me signaling for help a few kilometers outside of a mountain village. our van broke down and we are on the side of the road. if you know any berber van drivers, please don't hesitate to send them our way. btw, someone scored a touchdown here, but i'm not gonna say who. digestive football metaphors are all the rage!
