one down, one hundred to go…ok, maybe 60 • 11.22.09
that evening, she took me out for a surprise anniversary date. we went to highland tap for the prime rib…..hadn’t been in quite a while – good stuff. then we went out to see 2012. it was predictably melodramatic and unreal, but i really love “end of the world” caliber cgi. we had a good date!
we also went over to piedmont park to do some self-portraits for our anniversary. we so rarely actually get our picture taken together, so we carried the tripod across the street to the park and went to town!
these are my favorite shots (and done as a movie, to boot). i always see other photographers do this sort of thing, but had never done it myself. we had fun!

it has been an amazing year. we’ve been a little busier than we intended and our work situations certainly added more stress than we would have liked. but we’ve made my condo our home and we’ve begun to build a life together. we got to have only a few adventures, but look forward to many more together. oh, and lillis gift to me was eyetv so i could watch tv on my macbook AND a filson field bag for my camera gear…….and the sweetest most supportive, enthusiastic and encouraging wife anyone could ever have….and as cousin eddie said “that’s the gift that keeps on givin’ the WHOLE year.”
oh, here’s the link to the rest of our anniversary photos.
the beautiful biltmore estate • 11.01.09
we had a great time yesterday at jason and mo’s wedding. lillis was dancing in fine form and i was extremely sophisticated as in a fit of inspiration i decided my drink of choice would be the manhattan. also, i was sporting a pocket square so i was more or less as fly as usher. bill made a pocket square of a napkin and that was fly, too. hopefully this was the last wedding at which i’ll be asked to perform billie jean.
our hotel was right next to the biltmore so we came over to see it. beautiful place….i thought of buying it, but it didn’t seem to have enough closet space. now leaving asheville and homeward bound.
ok…one last update on asheville. they apparently have the most expensively built mcdonalds in the u.s. only the best for my girl, so of course i took her there. i gotta say….fancy. exposed oak beams, a fountain, fireplace, a self-playing piano, and almost clean restrooms. the biltmore charged us $110 and gave us not even a snack. mcdonalds gave us some mediocre food for under $12. advantage golden arches. : )
