time well spent

Was once upon a time

I ‘d not the words to say

The feelings in my heart

The way I feel today

There was when I would sit

And try to write a part

Something deep within me

That wouldn’t let me start

But now my eyes are opened

And now my heart can see

The thing that held me back

Was fear inside of me

Of what had I been scared?

What was it that I lacked?

Upon me fin’lly dawns

What kept my love off track

Knowing you is loving

And loving you I know

I put my heart at risk

And trust our love will grow

Trust it is not easy

When one’s as scared as this

To take a leap of faith

And risk finding abyss

But what it is I know

Now, come whatever may

No matter where we go

I’ll treasure every day

That we have spent t’gether

And blessed I’ll be I know

To count among my gifts

The times I’ve loved you so

Times I’ve held you near me

When mem’ries all I sift

Will be my greatest joys

Will be my soul’s great lift

So as you walk this earth

Whatever you enjoy

Remember that you made

A man of one young boy.
