trip to nashville
i basically ran from the tpc course to the jacksonville airport so i could fly up to nashville (my 3rd flight in 36 hours) to spend the weekend with em in nashville and meet her parents. well, we got in pretty late, and as i’m sitting exhausted on the couch, trying to get my head to decompress from the flight, it sorta slips out that i’m meeting the ENTIRE family at brunch the next morning.
well, i survived all that, and proved to emily once and for all that i am a “baby whisperer.” her six month old??? niece was doing some pretty good crying for the better part of the morning. every time emily would pick her up, she would start to wail. soooo, i was of course gently mocking emily that she wasn’t good with kids and we could never work out – she hands me the kid. so, i’ve just met the whole family and now i’ve been given a crying baby. so, i did what any guy would do, i talked to the baby about how burritos are made and about the clothing strategy employed by the gap. well, of course the baby was enthralled with our conversation and immediately stopped crying (and stayed tear free for the next 30 minutes). i later asked emily if she was secretly hoping the baby would keep crying – response…..”yes, but i knew she wouldn’t.”
anyway, we had a great weekend and i really enjoyed meeting her family, including getting to tour my old covation stomping grounds in nashvegas. i made it out to southstreet and noshville and a bar or two. here’s a picture from the restroom of some wall graffiti.

not pictured are emily’s mom, dad, grandmother, middle sister rachel, cousin, cousin, cousin’s girlfriend, cousin, cousin’s husband, cousin’s 3 girls, aunt, uncle and other nebulous psuedo-relatives. it was a fun weekend, and since emily was so sweet to me, i won’t torture her when we meet all my family.
