Draft Trip Day 4 and Wrap-Up
Draft day has finally arrived…..the moment no one other than 14 people in serious need of a life have all been waiting for…..sure the games, and the golf and the pool and the partying are great, but it all comes down to the draft. this is where championship dreams are born.
After rousing Ron Jeremy from the Mickey Mouse suite

we took off for the game…..the braves and phillies…..aimee’s favorite player ignored our request for a photo, so all i got was this picture of him practicing his crane technique.

future first ballot hall of famer marlon byrd broke a bat which todd narrowly missed grabbing as it skidded to a stop atop the visiting dugout. as todd dangled precipitously on the railing (rather resembling a macy’s parade float)the man who had nabbed the bat proceeded to give it to todd – obviously mistaking him for someone with special needs.

actually, was the guy that far off? anyway the bat would later be instrumental in todd and collies plan to pull one over on the league by announcing a fake trade that would spark the “bats for drafts” scandal. this nearly blew the roof off the assembled nerdage until it was revealed to be a hoax, like big foot, or this being the cubs year.
we then assembled for the draft….i put on my special draft jersey

and got ready. here reggie theus, ronnie, dietze and team inman prepare their draft strategy. due to the late start time, merely staying awake would be crucial, particularly after consuming large amounts of both pizza and steak au poivre.

i tried to steal todd’s draft secrets by taking spy photos of his draft sheet….obvioiusly something was lost in translation as i would soon realize i would not be winning the league this year.

i’m including this photo only b/c i hadn’t previously realized the verbiage on inman’s hat.

with the first pick, bp took mariano rivera, sparking the great closer run of ’05. a mere 3 hours and 30 some odd minutes later the draft was over and i would start to hate my team, with notable disgust towards the fact that i had no catcher and 7 outfielders.
i was cheered to know though, that my franchise player (a rod, as pictured on my home made jersey)

would pull me through.
the next morning it was wake up, clean up, and get out. i knew i was close to home as i closed in on tifton (a high speed internet city – i mean, has ANYONE ever been to tifton? why do they have to advertise to get you to stop?).

also, tifton is the “reading capitol of the world” as well? good god, this place must be amazing.
anyway, thx everyone for coming….i had a blast! here are the draft results. all right, i’ve got to go check yahoo for catchers – no, not like that.
